Design of the Day - Ingo Maurer's Zettel'z 6 Lamp

Ingo Maurer Zettel'z 6 Lamp

The Zettel'z 6 lamp was designed by Ingo Maurer in Germany. This unique design was recently featured at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York. The Ingo Maurer Zettel'z 6 Suspension uses 40 printed- and 40 blank Japanese paper sheets. Ingo Maurer uses this Japanese paper as a translucent medium whichss allows light to pass though the scripted pages. The 40 printed sheets display love letters in many languages, and the owner is invited to participate in the creativity. 40 blank pages are supplied to let you create your own letters and add to the design.

  • Chair: Width: 39.5" x Height: 36" x Depth: 34"
  • Ottoman: Width: 26" x Height: 19" x Depth: 22"

The popularity of this chair has seen a resurgence in the last year, perhaps due to its scale, minimalist form and classic mid-century design. If you are interested in owning a high quality reproduction of this classic chair, please  do not hesitate to contact us.

Design of The Day - Silhouette Console Table

Today's design "the silhouette table" is available locally through one of our suppliers in Vancouver. We like the clean lines of this piece, and we recently sold two of  these to residential clients in Yaletown. The piece comes in two sizes, the larger is big enough to be used as a TV console. The smaller is an ideal size for an entrance, lobby, or other occasional space. For more information about this table please contact us through our website at www.taointeriors.com

Three Great Reasons to Hire an Interior Designer

There are many advantages of using an interior designer during the home renovation process. The following are the top 3 reasons why we believe hiring a designer may be the best way to go:

1. Experience

Using the designer's expertise, you will avoid the common pitfalls that many homeowners and business owners experience when attempting to do everything themselves. Many people believe that hiring a professional designer is expensive, yet many DIY design projects run extensively over budget due to costly errors. Furthermore, the workload of involved in managing a design project is often too much for the average individual or business. After consulting with you as to your budget, we can ensure ease of selection for design elements and materials, and develop a project timeline for your new interior. We do the work, while you enjoy the process of watching your space transform.

2. Forward Thinking Improvements

In addition to offering expertise, designers can also help to deliver lifestyle requirements currently demanded by the market. In the present market, people are looking to maximize space for dining, entertainment, and storage. Because both living and work spaces are getting smaller all the time, its important to capitalize as much as possible on the functionality of even the smallest areas. Working with scale and dimensions is what we do best. We can offer suggestions to make sure your space is used to its utmost, tailoring your existing floor plan to best suit your needs now, and in the future.

3. Savings

Above all, a designers job is to save you valuable time and money. An interior designer can provide you with access to wholesale supplier discounts for purchasing the materials you will need for your renovation or home staging project. These discounts help to ensure the design changes will stay within budget and make everything affordable.

The Contemporary Kitchen

Contemporary kitchens have transformed into minimal masterpieces with open concepts, uncluttered walls and floating islands now par for the course. Fine lines, quartz countertops, and two-tone cabinetry in white with wood grain accents are some of the latest trends.  The combination of earth tones, with high gloss surfaces gives a textural contrast that transforms the purely functional into a timeless form.

More than a place to prepare a meal, the contemporary kitchen has become a social gathering place and an anchorpoint for the overall design of the home.
